Recently, the Grand Seiko brand introduced the limited edition SBGH327 – recreating the rare beautiful phenomenon on the top of Mount Fuji – “Red Fuji” (Aka Fuji). This unique artifact also marks a special milestone in the brand’s golden history – the 1st anniversary of the founding of Grand Seiko Asia-Pacific.

Red Mount Fuji has become a symbol of success and happiness in the Japanese soul. Specifically, red in Japanese culture is often seen as a symbol of luck, health and prosperity. The “Red Fuji” phenomenon is extremely rare, only seen once or twice a year, and is a blend of natural beauty – the change of seasons from late summer to early autumn, in harmony with the red light of sunrise or sunset on the mountain. The Japanese believe that the phenomenon of “Red Fuji” symbolizes success and happiness, prosperity, human desires and hopes.
SBGH327 – honoring the eternal beauty of the East – Mount Fuji
Since Grand Seiko invited designer Akira Yoshida to Singapore to launch Tentagraph, the brand has revealed the first exclusive edition for the Asia-Pacific market to mark a special milestone – the 1st anniversary of Grand Seiko Asia-Pacific. Keeping its promise, the Japanese watchmaker launched the SBGH327 Aka Fuji/“Red Fuji” watch version on November 1.
Inspired by the “Red Fuji” phenomenon, SBGH327 expresses Grand Seiko’s gratitude for Mother Nature’s gift – the beauty of heaven and earth as the seasons change. The dial is meticulously crafted with graining that reflects the distinct features of Mount Fuji in the mesmerizing scene preserved on the watch.
Besides its attractive beauty, SBGH327 also represents Grand Seiko’s philosophy of precision and creativity – “The Nature of Time”. The case of the watch is subjected to the traditional Zaratsu polishing process, thereby significantly improving its appearance.
One surprising thing is that SBGH327 is equipped with a Hi-Beat 9S85 movement by Grand Seiko, instead of a Spring Drive movement. The 9S85 was first introduced in 2009 and is assembled at Shizukuishi Watch Workshop. The movement is calibrated to an accuracy of +5/-3 seconds per day, using MEMS technology to precisely manufacture the escape wheel and other parts. At the same time, Grand Seiko also uses two exclusive materials, SPRON 530 for the wire with higher tension and SPRON 610 for greater resistance to shock and magnetism.
Only 168 SBGH327 pieces were produced worldwide and sold exclusively at Grand Seiko Boutique across Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam.
