Prada Men’s Spring Summer 2027 collection: Changing the perspective on familiar things

A seemingly mundane conversation about the history of everyday wear became the starting point for the Prada Men’s Spring Summer 2027 collection. From personal experience when they realized they both rarely wore denim in everyday life, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons opened a new dialogue about five-pocket jeans, a design that has been present in the wardrobes of many generations since 1873.

Instead of repeating the familiar image of indigo blue denim, Prada chose to look at this prototype from a different angle. On the runway, the five-pocket construction with signature rivet details was retained as a historical landmark, but appeared in a color palette of berry red, pink, brown, yellow and white. The repeating geometric patterns on the surface evoke the visual language of mid-twentieth century Italian architecture, creating a layer of dialogue between fashion, industrial design and urban life.

Material exploration becomes the main driving force behind the entire collection. From the familiar slim-fit pants, Prada expanded the range of experimentation with leather, fabric with wolf fang motifs or Prince of Wales stripes, materials that are inherently associated with the art of tailoring. Going even further are designs made with see-through nylon organza, revealing the entire inner structure of the garment. When paired with classic denim-inspired jackets, these designs demonstrate Prada’s ambition to break away from established conventions to build a new vision of everyday wear.

Many characteristic marks of the fashion house are also placed in a modern context. The V-neck sweater with school spirit is treated with a deep neckline that goes down near the waist, completely changing the visual proportions. Peter Pan collar jackets or patterned sweater vests are recreated with new materials, causing fans to look again at items that are already so familiar. Meanwhile, single-breasted blazer designs with expanded shoulders act as a fulcrum, helping the overall balance between experimentation and practicality.

A notable detail is the appearance of female models in Prada’s men’s clothing show lineup after many seasons of absence. This decision emphasizes that the tailoring language built into the collection exists independently of limited definitions of male or female. That spirit continues to be expressed through accessories: small bags hooked to the waistband of pants with a D-shaped buckle, accompanied by large surface-treated leather belts, as if they had accompanied the wearer through many years of use.

In a context where high fashion is often associated with eventful performance moments, Prada focuses on the message: fashion does not just exist to make a momentary impression but also to provoke thought. That ideology is humorously reflected in the asymmetrical shoes and glasses appearing on the runway. They are like a tool that allows the wearer to look back at familiar components of contemporary clothing, disassemble them from old patterns and rearrange them in a new order.
