Dolce&Gabbana Alta Moda 2026 collection: Myths about goddesses descending to earth

14 years after starting the Alta Moda journey in Taormina, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana return to the origin of this chapter of history. The Alta Moda 2026 show taking place at the Radicepura Botanical Park is a dialogue between creativity, mythology and craftsmanship. At the foot of Mount Etna, the natural landscape becomes the backdrop for the values of Fatto a Mano, the philosophy of honoring Italian craftsmanship, to be told through each design.

“There are lands that belong to humans. There are places where the gods reside. But there are also legendary nights that choose to move closer to the lower world. That’s when the gods left heaven and arrived at the heart of the Mediterranean – Sicily.”, the narration resounds in the performance space as the beginning of a epic about local mythology and culture, leading the audience into the story of goddesses leaving Mount Olympus to meet mortals on earth. Among Radicepura’s thousands of native plant species, each design represents the essence of craftsmanship cherished throughout the centuries.

If mythology is the plot, then the theme throughout this season’s collection is celebration. That is not worship, but the way people preserve the values they consider precious. Flowers become the “main character” in the story about the goddesses. Roses, jasmine and orange blossoms appear on headdresses, cover the shoulders or bloom on the hips, turning each layer of fabric into a ritual.

The color palette is also deployed as part of the narrative. Celadon and sage green tones open the collection, mixed with soft tulle layers and gold embroidery techniques. A mint green suit jacket design, dotted with tulle on the shoulders, bringing gentle movement instead of the restrictive feeling of traditional tailored clothing. The loose silhouette evokes images of priestesses in mythology. The companion design continues to exploit this color palette on a structured flared skirt, with volume and cut balanced across the same overall look. Golden buckles, thin chains, turquoise suede clutches or jeweled shoes appear like offerings in a ritual honoring the beauty of craftsmanship.

Continuing the blue vein are tones of apricot and yellow, reminiscent of the typical light source of the Mediterranean region when dusk falls. Layers of ruffles flow from the bodice to the skirt, each layer is dotted with floating flower clusters, creating the feeling of blooming on the surface of the fabric. Flowers continue to appear on the waist, shoulders and hips of the dress, becoming part of the shape-shaping structure.

Closing the first chapter of the collection are periwinkle blue designs, bringing the spirit of mythology closer to the atmosphere of a ritual. The strapless bodice is combined with layers of ruffled tulle, while the veil completes the image, which evokes ancient Mediterranean rituals. The proportions of the shape are still kept wide and soft. Tulle details covering the shoulders create graceful movements with each step, while layers of chiffon with subtle color changes bring depth. A golden necklace, large jewelry and stone-embellished shoes appear as the final pieces, completing the image of a woman entering a ritual to honor beauty.
