Swiss watchmaking brand Girard-Perregaux has just launched four new versions of the Laureato Fifty series, continuing the success of the limited edition watch model launched late last year to mark the 50th anniversary of its launch. All four of these masterpieces are now permanent members of the Girard-Perregaux family, preserving the original spirit of the Laureato with a 70s-inspired octagonal bezel and tonneau-shaped case.
Girard-Perregaux decided to continue to extend the 50th anniversary celebration for the iconic Laureato sports watch line. In particular, all four of these masterpieces will become permanent members of the brand’s official collection.

One of those modern improvements lies in the operating system. Girard-Perregaux’s in-house Caliber GP4800 – one of three new movements the brand has showcased its craftsmanship since last September – features up to 10 different finishing techniques, including sandblasting, sunray finishing, circular satin-brushing and many others. This automatic mechanical movement is also equipped with an oscillating weight and an 18-karat rose gold balance bridge – a material crafted specifically for this collection. Customers can observe both of these details moving through the sapphire glass back. This 163-part movement has a power reserve of 60 hours and an oscillation frequency of 4 Hz.

This dial design language is also applied to the rest of the collection, which includes 36 mm and 39 mm versions in 18-karat rose gold. The silver dial model adds splendor to the case thanks to 64 brilliant-cut diamonds delicately set on steel. Each version has 18-karat solid gold hour and minute hands coated with luminous material, and is water resistant to a depth of 150 meters.
“Laureato endures thanks to the strength of its architectural design: the precise balance between lines and internal mechanisms, the natural evolution of depth, the presence and personality that endure over time,” Marc Michel-Amadry, CEO of Girard-Perregaux, shared in a press release.
The 39 mm and 36 mm Laureato Fifty versions with 18-karat rose gold dials retail for $23,100, while the 39 mm version with a blue enamel dial retails for $24,500. A 36 mm diamond-encrusted watch completes the collection with a price tag of $24,200.
