Glashütte Original Chronograph duo: A historical mark in the quintessence of modern craftsmanship

The two watch models Senator Chronograph Navigator and Senator Chronograph are inspired by time machines for pilots in the 1940s and observation watches of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, respectively.

The German watch brand has just unveiled a pair of brand new timepieces, each paying tribute to the illustrious chronograph designs of the past. The Senator Chronograph draws inspiration from the observation watch designs crafted in the Glashütte region during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, while its more stylish sibling, the Senator Chronograph Navigator, echoes the design language of the pilot’s watch of the 1940s.

Each version has unique touches. The Senator Chronograph Navigator attracts the eye with its matte black dial dotted with luminescent Arabic numerals – the perfect choice for a pilot’s machine that requires quick, accurate observations even in the harshest conditions.

To optimize readability, the hour and minute hands are coated with Super-LumiNova, combined with delicate white-primed details on the 30-minute sub-dial and small seconds hand. Other notable details include the two mushroom-shaped chronograph buttons (mushroom-shaped pushers) at the 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock positions, with a tachymeter scale running around the edge of the dial.

On the other hand, the Senator Chronograph model brings a classic beauty with Roman numerals made of cast gold covered in blue that stand out on a silver-white dial crafted with a grainy technique (grainse). The luxurious blue color continues to be consistently present on the watch’s hands.

Both versions are covered in a 41 mm stainless steel case and have the same large date display window (Panorama Date) characteristically sits proudly at the 6 o’clock position.

The duo uses Caliber 37-24 automatic movement, integrated functions flyback chronograph Allows the wearer to stop, return to the original position and restart the chronograph feature with just a single press. Through the transparent sapphire glass on the back, everyone can fully admire the beauty of the movement, featuring a newly designed skeletonized rotor and a power reserve of up to 70 hours.

Each version offers a variety of strap options, including black or blue Louisiana alligator leather straps, sand-colored synthetic fabric straps, or stainless steel straps.

In particular, Glashütte Original has integrated a quick change mechanism (quick-change mechanism) for the folding clasp, making it easier and smoother than ever to transform and switch straps according to your mood or personal style.

If you want to add the Senator Chronograph Navigator or Senator Chronograph to your personal collection, both watches are now officially available at Glashütte Original retail stores worldwide. This duo has a starting price of 16,100 USD (depending on the choice of accompanying strap).
