Multi-cloud networking services aim to reduce the workload required to connect applications, data and infrastructure.
Microsoft and Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced a collaboration to develop a multi-cloud networking solution that allows customers to establish private connections between Azure and AWS through interoperable services and shared open application programming interfaces (APIs).
The companies say the service aims to reduce the amount of work needed to connect applications, data and infrastructure across both cloud computing platforms.
This solution uses AWS Multicloud Interconnect and Azure Multicloud Interconnect. Microsoft says Azure Multicloud Interconnect is designed to support private connectivity that extends to Azure Private Link.
Microsoft says customers will be able to deploy the service in general availability at speeds of up to 100 gigabits per second (Gbps), with MACsec security and 99.99% availability, for AI, data, and other workloads across multiple cloud environments.
This launch follows Azure’s existing multi-cloud agreement with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Microsoft has combined Azure with OCI, and that setup includes a dedicated interconnect.
